Karnivool is a five-piece alternative rock/progressive metal music group from Perth, Western Australia formed in 1997.[1] Mainstays are Andrew 'Drew' Goddard on lead guitar and Ian Kenny on lead vocals. They won five West Australian Music Industry Awards (WAMi Awards) in 2007 for 'Most Popular Act', 'Most Popular Live Act', 'Best Male Vocalist' (Kenny), 'Best Guitarist' (Goddard) and 'Best Hard Rock Act'. Karnivool's second album, Sound Awake, debuted at #2 on the ARIA Album Charts on 15 June 2009.
Sound Awake was released by the Sony Independent Network / Red Distribution in the United States and Canada on February 16th 2010. Karnivool will follow the release with a co-headlining tour with Fair to Midland in the U.S that will start 17 March at SXSW.
After a successful tour of Europe and the United States, Karnivool returned to home soils and announced another national tour, the New Day Tour, with the first show being played on the 23rd June in Brisbane at the HiFi. MM9 and Cairo Knife Fight were to be the main support acts; however, due to unfortunate circumstances, Cairo Knife Fight were unable to play and Helm replaced them. Perth was the exception, where The Siren Tower and Tangled Thoughts Of Leaving replaced Cairo Knife Fight. Two Melbourne shows and a Sydney show quickly sold out, unprecedented in Karnivool's history and as a result further shows at capitals such as Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth were announced. This is likely to be the last Australian tour before the band begins working on a new album although a US/Canada tour has been scheduled.
