The Jon Popenoe Blues Band formed in 2001 in Sonoma Valley, California. The band is a blues based power trio anchored by Jon Popenoe on guitar and vocals. The current configuration features Tom Jones on bass guitar, and Jim Holland on drums. The band is hard driving and funky, but they can also play melodic and jazzy depending on the gig.
Jon Popenoe has been playing guitar since he was 9 years old. He is an elementary music teacher by day, and he has been a guitar teacher for many years. He grew up in Washington D.C. where he soaked up a myriad of musical influences and styles. His influences include: Johnny Winter, BB, Freddie, and Albert King, Jimi Hendrix, Wes Montgomery, Miles Davis, and the list goes on and on...
The Jon Popenoe Blues Band has played in just about every venue in the North Bay, and plans on bringing the blues to a new generation for many years to come.
